Reasons why the shark rotator brush roller not working

There are several reasons why the brush roller may not rotate.

  • First, dirt, debris, and hair can accumulate. The brush roller helps in selecting anything from the floor. And since it’s doing its job too, sometimes it needs a little help to keep working. If you use a shark pet hair vacuum, you can expect the brush roller to stick more often than usual.
  • The next common cause is a power switch. For the roller brush to work, the switch must be in a certain position. Also, the vacuum nozzle can pose another problem. It must be installed correctly, otherwise, the brush roller will not work.
  • You should also check that the belt is fit. This is the part that rotates the brush roller. Damage, breakage, or anything else can be the source of the problem.
  • Finally, there is a reason why it is not connected to the vacuum cleaner itself, but to the plugs it uses. If the electrical connection is not strong, the vacuum cleaner will not have enough power to turn and start the brush roller.

How to fix shark brush roll

Once you determine the cause of the malfunction, you can begin to repair it. Let’s start with the first most common cause.

To find out if the brush roller is connected, you need to access it. First, as usual, unplug the vacuum cleaner. The maintenance work on the connection unit proved to be very dangerous. In any case, after switching it off, you can turn on the vacuum cleaner and see if brush roller and see if it’s covered in dirt and hair.

Hairs are usually very painful to remove, so take little scissors and cut them out. If you remove pet hair, human hair, debris, and dirt from the brush roller, it will apply itself again.

If this fails, make sure the switch is in the brush roller position. We know this is common sense, but when you’re in a hurry and ready to clean it up and can’t wait to do it, you forget about it.

The switch must be in the roller and brush mode at the same time. If it is a direct feed, the brush roller will not work.

While you’re at it, make sure the nozzle fits well, as this may be one of the reasons why the brush doesn’t work.

You want to get the most out of your direct suction, so you need to run the brush roller to work. If you see that the nozzle is brittle, press it and it will take effect.

When you check your vacuum belt, you’ll see if it needs to be replaced, so be careful not to skip this step if other things fail.

If you have tried all of this and the brush roller still does not move, you should consider other possible causes. Check the socket. The loser may not provide a strong enough electrical connection, so try replacing the plugs.

All in all, if everything else fails, you’ll need to call Shark Customer Support for help. By answering their questions, you will provide them with enough information to be able to help you solve your problems.

Or you may be advised to return the device to a professional for an inspection.

All in all, this is so important to choose your vacuum cleaner wisely for optimal performance.

Brush roll indicator light

This light can tell you if you have a problem or not. So it’s good to pay attention to that.

If it is green, the brush roller is fine and you can now vacuum.

But the constant red light tells you that there is a problem, probably some kind of obstacle, so you have to solve it. Also, if there is no light, you may have a similar problem.

If you see a flashing red light, it is a sign of overheating. In this case, allow the vacuum to cool slightly.
